Act

I often find myself putting on an act for my own sake.

For example, when I'm watching a football match and the team I support is losing with ten minutes left, I convince myself that they have already lost. I deliberately accept the worst possible outcome in advance, hoping that if they really do lose, the sadness will hurt a little less.

I do the same thing in relationships. From the moment I meet someone, I find myself imagining the day we will eventually part. Everything that takes shape will one day fall apart. With that thought in mind, I put on an act for myself, trying to soften the sadness, even if only slightly.

This song portrays that habit of putting on an act for myself through the lens of love.

In terms of sound, most of the songs I have released so far have centered around a band-driven style led by live drums. On this track, however, I retained organic elements such as bass and hi-hat while incorporating textures, release-cut piano sounds, and electronic drums, allowing me to explore a more electronic sonic palette.
