Tokyo-based singer Kaoruko, who released her fourth EP "Opal" in February this year, teams up once again with prolific and internationally in-demand Kyoto-based producer/DJ Stones Taro for their new single "Monstera".
The two first collaborated back in 2021, releasing hit single "YOU WORRY" via Tokyo-based creative label tokyovitamin,  a track which quickly became ubiquitous on Tokyo dancefloors and loved by club veterans and newcomers alike.
The pair's new collaboration "Monstera" stays fairthful to this tried-and-tested formula, with Kaoruko's catchy flow and bittersweet lyrics intertwining with Taro's agile, airy and occasionally nostalgia-inducing 2-step beats.
The result is neither fully J-pop nor fully UK Garage: Monstera is a compelling amalgam of the two, which promises to send shockwaves through both scenes.
