Transforming the light of the Thirteen Buddhas into dance and prayer.
"Eko of the Thirteen Lights" (Jūsan-kō no Ekō) is a track blending Japanese-style EDM and electro-pop, based on the mantras of the Thirteen Buddhas, the Mantra of Light, and verses of dedication (ekō).
Acala (Fudō Myō-ō), Shakyamuni (Shaka Nyorai), Manjushri (Monju Bosatsu), Samantabhadra (Fugen Bosatsu), Kshitigarbha (Jizō Bosatsu), Maitreya (Miroku Bosatsu), Bhaisajyaguru (Yakushi Nyorai), Avalokiteshvara (Kannon Bosatsu), Mahasthamaprapta (Seishi Bosatsu), Amitabha (Amida Nyorai), Akshobhya (Ashuku Nyorai), Vairocana (Dainichi Nyorai), and Akasagarbha (Kokūzō Bosatsu)
We have translated the light and prayers of each of these figures into music and visuals within the unique worldview of SAKU, incorporating imagery of dance, the shamisen, iridescent clouds, lotus flowers, and salvation.
It is believed that mantras harbor the wisdom and power of the Buddhas not only when chanted aloud but also simply through the vibration and resonance of the sounds themselves. Let us chant and listen together, invoking the power and blessings of the Thirteen Buddhas to overcome the hardships rampant in the world.
Making daily spiritual practice more enjoyable and accessible.
May the hearts of listeners be brightened, and may that light be shared or dedicated to others.
