Bbugs is a Tokyo-based alternative band whose core philosophy is rooted in dilettantism, with a DIY spirit and a surrealist sensibility at the heart of their aesthetic.
With a deep respect for guitar music of the 1980s and 1990s, Bbugs reconstructs the romance, instability, critical spirit, and sense of chance embedded in the sound of that era through a contemporary perspective and a handmade, tactile approach.
Their expression extends beyond music. Moving freely between art, philosophy, literature, and subculture, Bbugs seeks to practice a form of contemporary surrealism.
The band was formed in Tokyo in 2024, centered around Rio, alongside Yuji Soga, Takahiro Hirano, and Juon Tahara.
Endless Knot explores the experience of obsessive thoughts that keep circling through the mind. The more you try to stop them, the more tangled they become, leaving you with a feeling of being unable to escape. The song expresses this state through the shimmering sound of a 12-string guitar.
The recording, mixing, and mastering were handled by Kensei Ogata.
Bbugs is an alternative band from Tokyo. Their core idea is based on dilettantism, and their aesthetic comes from DIY practice mixed with a surrealist sense. Their range is wider than music. They move through art, philosophy, literature, subculture, and aim for a form of surrealism that fits the present age. The group took shape in 2024 with Rio as the central figure, joined by Yuji Soga, Takahiro Hirano, and Juon Tahara.
