The Island South of the City

The third release from "TOKYO COLLAGE 2025," a project organized by &mkz that transforms the atmosphere of Tokyo in 2025 into music using field recording techniques.
This piece was created during a stay on Ōshima, an island located south of Tokyo. Natural environmental sounds were collaged, and layered with performances using an upright piano sampled note by note after encountering it on the island. The result is a gentle ambient work that captures the air of the island as it transitions from spring to summer.
