ACEが放つ『FUNKY MONKY』は、タイトルの軽さとは裏腹に、“人間の本能”を徹底的にえぐり出すアルバムだ。
空を見上げる者、光に群がる者、愛に迷う者、嵐に笑う者、そして吠える小さな獣——。
この作品は「滑稽さ」と「本気」が同居している。
ファンキーで、モンキーで、でも決してふざけてはいない。
むしろむき出しだ。
1. BIRD WATCHING
アルバムの幕開けは、静かに空を見上げる一人の視点から始まる。
“自由を観察するだけの自分”。
レンズ越しに測る空、飛ばない言い訳、逃げない安全圏。
だがファイナルコーラスでそのレンズを叩き割る。
There was never any cage
Every single iron bar was something that I made
檻はなかった。作っていたのは自分自身。
ラストの
“DON’T LOOK AWAY! RIGHT NOW!”
というワードは、アルバム全体のテーマを提示する号砲だ。
これはただのバードウォッチングの歌じゃない。
“傍観をやめろ”という宣言だ。
2. FALLING APPLE
アップテンポ、爆発的、そしてメンバー全員が暴れ倒す。
それなのに一曲として完璧にまとまっている。
ギターの鋭いカッティング、手数の多いドラム、唸るベース、
そして攻撃的で皮肉に満ちたボーカル。
この曲は「重力」のメタファーだ。
人は光に引き寄せられ、強いものに群がり、
“自分は違う”と言いながら同じように落ちていく。

認めた瞬間、曲はさらに強くなる。
理想の2曲目。
ライブで化けるタイプの楽曲。
観客の体温が一気に上がる、まさに“重力”。
3. In The Dark
ここで一転、内省へ。
結婚、責任、愛、疑問。
黒と白で描かれた理想の先にあるグレー。
派手な言葉はない。
でも、重い。
重いワードすら明るく歌うこと。
それこそがACE流。
この曲の凄さは“逃げないこと”だ。
答えを出さない。
光を約束しない。
それでも最後に残るのは、
I’m still here
逃げないという決意。
ACEのロックは強がりではない。
弱さを認めた上で立っている。
4. Hard Rain
アルバムのエネルギーが再び爆発する。
ネオン、豪雨、疾走感。
ここには迷いはない。
嵐は絶望ではなく、
愛によって“リズム”に変わる。
韻を踏みまくるプレコーラスの加速、
シンクロするビート、
ライブでの一体感が目に浮かぶ。
この曲は“再生”。
雨の中で笑える人間の強さを描いている。
5. INSANE POMERANIAN
そしてラスト。
アルバムタイトルの“MONKY”に呼応するように、
ここでは小さなポメラニアンが暴れ回る。
だがこれは可愛い犬の話ではない。
虚勢、承認欲求、過剰反応、エコーチェンバー。
Minimum mass, maximum rant
最小サイズ、最大騒音。
SNS時代の人間そのものだ。
しかし最後に暴かれる真実。
Just a trembling Pomeranian
怒りの裏にあるのは、
消えてしまうことへの恐怖。
笑える。
でも刺さる。

この作品は一貫して問い続ける。
本当に飛ばないのか？
本当に自由か？
本当に愛か？
本当に強いのか？
本当に怒っているのか？
傍観者、信者、配偶者、恋人、吠える獣。
全部“人間”。
タイトルは遊んでいる。
だが内容は容赦ない。
ACEはこのアルバムで、
