Originally released in 2009, this 4-track EP can be considered the true origin of dry river string. The work captures the deeply personal emotions at the core of Yuzuru Hoshikawa's songwriting, packing his intense initial impulses into a raw, unfiltered form.
Recording and mixing were handled by his close ally Eishi Omoto from Hoshikawa's band, upandcoming, with mastering by Takaaki Mino (toe). The lead track, "cover me," is a must-listen that perfectly captures the magic of creating music with trusted peers; it features guitar arpeggios that pierce the silence alongside an innocent yet desperately earnest vocal performance. Long out of print and previously available only at live venues and select stores, this elusive archive is finally seeing a digital release after 16 years.
Formed in 2007, centered around Gen Hoshikawa, frontman of the Kyoto-based band "up and coming," known for their distinctive presence in the scene. They pursue a unique sound where nostalgic, delicate guitar work blends with a honed sense of song. Their music is characterized by a natural resonance that is serene yet powerful. They released "buried e.p." in 2009 and their first full album "quiet" in 2010.
