I AM (WHO I AM)

This song is a worship expression of faith that exalts the name of God by drawing together the Exodus story of the Old Testament and the salvation accomplished through Jesus Christ. God heard the cries of the people of Israel as they suffered in slavery in Egypt, remembered His covenant, and sent Moses to lead them into freedom. On the night of Passover, the houses marked with the blood of the lamb were spared - pointing forward to the salvation that was to come.

In fulfillment of this, God sent Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. Through the blood shed on the cross, God's righteousness was fully satisfied, and we are set free from the power of sin and brought into true freedom. If the Exodus was a foreshadow, then the salvation through Christ is its complete fulfillment.

God, who revealed Himself as "I AM,"is the eternal and unchanging One. His will and His purposes remain the same throughout all time. Just as He led the people of Israel, He still hears the cries of people today and invites them into His salvation. This song calls us to seek and exalt His name, and to walk in trust of the salvation and guidance He graciously provides.
