Origami CLR

As an all-white female melodic hardcore group, our first album-written entirely in English-was a statement of identity, raw energy, and passion. It was fast, loud, and unapologetically us. But with this second album, we wanted to take a step further-to challenge ourselves not only musically, but also linguistically and culturally. That's why we chose to incorporate Japanese lyrics into our songs for the first time.
This was far from an easy task. The phonetic structure, rhythm, and emotional nuance of Japanese are vastly different from English. What flows naturally in one language can feel awkward or disjointed in another. We found ourselves wrestling with syllables, struggling to maintain the intensity and pace of our sound while honoring the unique musicality of the Japanese language.
Some songs in this album reflect that struggle. We won't pretend every experiment worked perfectly. There were moments when our use of Japanese felt forced, or when the lyrics didn't quite capture the depth we hoped for. But we don't see that as a failure-rather, it's a part of our honest journey as artists. We're proud of the risks we took and the new dimensions they opened up in our sound.
This album, in its rawness and imperfection, is a snapshot of growth in motion. It represents the space between comfort and curiosity, between fluency and learning. Adding Japanese to our music showed us how much more we have to learn, and how rich the possibilities truly are.
Looking ahead, we're committed to deepening that exploration. In our next album, we aim to not only refine our Japanese lyrics but to better understand the culture, emotion, and silence that often lives between the words. We want to craft songs where language isn't just decoration, but a vital part of the message-songs that resonate deeply, regardless of origin.
