• Chigeru & Gurger with Shock

  Formed in 2022, Chiger & Burger with Shock is an eccentric ADULT ORIENTED POPS trio consisting of Don Chiger (Takayama Takayasu), a mysterious gentleman with a hook for an arm; Pro Hamburger (ex. Takano Masakado), a wandering Taoist priest; and Doll Shock Takeshita, the last pharaoh. Their music is characterized by raw, powerful lyrics that often reference juvenile themes, such as wanting to fly with a tiny propeller or build a secret base in an inappropriate place. These often crude yet catchy lyrics are delivered with energetic shouts and soaring vocals, set against a backdrop of nostalgic yet danceable electronic beats. The unit was formed when Pro Hamburger, a cartoonist, expressed his admiration for Don Chiger's bizarre and catchy songs on Twitter. Together, they created their first two major hits, "Chin Pro" and "Tamakichi," and released animated music videos featuring Chiger's unique character. These songs were released as NFTs, further establishing their presence in the digital art world. Their distinctive sound caught the attention of TBS's Rhymester Utada Maru, who featured them on his "Death City Pop" segment, leading to widespread attention and praise for their unique style. Shortly after, they received an offer to perform at the ADULT ORIENTED POP FES. in Shibuya, marking their live debut. However, recognizing the need for a more dynamic stage presence, they recruited Doll Shock Takeshita, a cartoonist and performer known for his eccentric style. Their first live performance was a resounding success, with even the seasoned rapper Ryo Fukui, who rarely films other artists' performances, capturing their act on video. The trio's addictive music and unique stage presence quickly made them a sensation in the underground music scene. As their popularity grew, they began working on their debut album. However, tragedy struck when Don Chiger passed away suddenly in May 2023. Despite their grief, Burger and Shock continued to perform, including a moving tribute to Don Chiger at the Yumemura outdoor event in 2023. With only three live performances as a full trio, Chiger & Burger with Shock has already become a legendary act. Burger, determined to honor Don Chiger's legacy, completed their debut album, "YumeGROOVE," which is set to be released in October 2024. Don Chiger, forever.
