Nibi will release the EP "Membrane" on July 31, 2024.
It is a work containing 6 songs including 3 pre-release singles.
This work, which began production in 2022, is inspired by the consistent image of "Membrane" and is a work that asks the listener to constantly think from the past to the present, and from the present to the future, while keeping in mind an introspective perspective on the environment surrounding oneself, mental health, and outlook on life.
The musicality of each song, woven from the diverse musical knowledge of Omura Tomoya, who is mainly in charge of composition and arrangement, is rich and wide-ranging, while Norie Takahashi's transparent and core vocals and introspective lyrics increase the resolution as pop music, making it a work that is worth listening to throughout the entire song as a work composed under a consistent theme. A release party will be held at the atelier and gallery "Koen" based in Nakameguro on August 31, 2024. This will be Nibi's first independently-produced event and her first live performance.
Nibi is an electronic music unit formed by vocalist Norie Takahashi and composer Tomoya Ohmura. The project was founded in 2020, when Takahashi, a singer-songwriter, and Ohmura, a film music composer, began collaborating during the pandemic after pursuing their respective careers. Rooted in club music, Nibi creates genre-crossing electronic soundscapes through an experimental approach. Their music weaves together meticulously crafted production, Takahashi's vocals-both ethereal and powerful-and introspective lyrics, exploring emotional fluctuations and the depths of the inner self while creating a distinctive sonic world. After passing the live audition "RINGOOO A GO-GO," Nibi performed at "Ringo Music Festival 2025", a renowned independent music festival held annually in Matsumoto, Nagano. Their immersive live performances-where introspective lyrics merge with sounds that resonate deep within the body-have earned recognition not only within the music scene but also in art spaces, including galleries across Tokyo.
