  1e1 (pronounced "iel") is a Tokyo-based solo project by musician and producer Dan Kubo. The project presents a signature sound that fuses the contexts of black music-such as Hip-Hop and R&B-with club music and forward-thinking electronic music aesthetics like LA Beat, while integrating advanced sound-generation techniques and structural theories rooted in classical and contemporary music. Launched in 2018 with the 1st EP Quartier Latin, 1e1 released its 1st album Cryptobiosis in October 2020, which was nominated for Producer Seiho's Album of the Year on the web media outlet Mastered. In 2024, 1e1 released the 2nd EP Asymptote. Meticulously constructed around precise concepts, every work pierces the boundaries between language and music, pop sensibility and experimentation, offering an experience that engages both the mind and ear. Extending beyond music production, 1e1 actively explores visual and spatial arts, including graphics and installation work, pursuing boundless experimentation. 1e1 performs live at clubs, live venues, and festivals across Japan, primarily centered in Tokyo.
