AIRMATA

Sandii, who has energetically introduced popular songs from Asian countries before turning her attention to the music of her Hawaiian roots, has released a collection of covers of famous Indonesian and Malaysian songs produced by Makoto Kubota and released in 1993. The title "AIRMATA" means "tears" in Malaysian (and Indonesian).

"Kopi Dangdut," is a Dangdut arrangement of the world hit "Coffee Rumba," which has been covered by many artists in Japan, sung in Malaysian. Kopi means coffee, and Dangdut is a popular music genre that has spread in Indonesia since the 1990s, and its rhythm is said to have originated from Indian music.

This 12-song album includes the hit song "Begadang" by Rhoma Irama, who became the king of the then new Indonesian music "Dangdut", and the hit Indian film song "Karena Pengalaman" by Elvy Sukaesih, who is called the queen of Dangdut and covered the Japanese classics "Koi no Fuga" and "Kimi Koishi", produced by Makoto Kubota in 1992, which became popular in Japan.
