Artist Profile

  • RATIO-P

In September 2018, RatioP made his debut as a Vocaloid producer. The name RatioP comes from the word ratio, which refers to beautiful mathematical proportions such as the golden ratio, silver ratio, and bronze ratio. Although he has always felt uneasy about being compared to others, he chose this name as a personal belief: to create works he could be proud of, even when compared to anyone else. He studied under Yohei Makabe at the music school MESAR HAUS, where he learned the foundations of music theory and developed his skills in guitar performance and ensemble composition. Before entering the Vocaloid scene, he had been active as a band musician and singer-songwriter. Seeking creative freedom beyond existing boundaries, he decided to keep his identity private and step into the world of digital creation. From the very beginning, he set two clear goals for himself: to stay active for one year and to complete a full-length album as the culmination of that journey. Within his first year, he released ten music videos and later added two new songs to complete his first album GOLDEN RATIO. He also took part in real-world events such as THE VOC@LOiD M@STER and Comic Market, where he distributed the album and interacted with fans. As that creative cycle came to a close, he planned to take a break as originally intended. However, several new songs he posted on social media during the album's production gained unexpected attention, leading him to create a new five-track EP titled Memorial High School. Although the planned release event at Niconico Chokaigi was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he made the release possible through online distribution. He later officially announced a hiatus, marking the end of his first chapter as a Vocaloid producer. His works began to gain attention overseas when fans reuploaded them to the Chinese video site Bilibili. RatioP later reuploaded the videos to his own official channel, sparking renewed interest and inspiring a grassroots fan community in China. Through these creative exchanges, his music began to reach listeners beyond Japan. In 2023, he participated in the major Vocaloid event VocaColle for the first time and released the song Unfinished Dynamite. In the same year, he collaborated with the lifestyle store Village Vanguard on exclusive merchandise, further expanding his creative reach. In 2025, his song In My Mind, themed around a snail, was featured in the rhythm game Phigros, earning praise from players both in Japan and abroad. Alongside his musical activities, RatioP has also worked in web design, online shop management, and other creative fields, drawing on connections built during his earlier band and production days. Using this experience, he has collaborated with developers of vocal synthesis software, contributing to both technical development and creative support. Today, he continues to bridge the worlds of music and technology, connecting artists and listeners, developers and creators, as a distinctive and boundary-crossing figure in the creative community.
