Pray 1 explores prayer as the careful accumulation of everyday acts.
Built from finely controlled tap repetitions performed on a hard waxberry wood board, the piece grows from rhythmic footwork into music composed only of voice and breath.
Formed through sustained pulse and respiration rather than melody, the sound reflects how repeated physical action can transform into a state of prayer.
Constructed from the resonance between wood and body, this is the first work in the Pray series by ODORUNATSUKO.
ODORUNATSUKO is a tap and sound artist who builds musical works from the resonance of solid wood. She approaches tap not as step-based dance but as percussive body expression, translating the relationship between wood and human into sound. Solid wood boards and tap shoes function as instruments, while the feet act as the medium between them. What emerges is not merely rhythm, but pulse, emotion, and landscape captured in vibration. Her process often begins with tap a cappella exploration and develops through structure, repetition, and silence into composed sound works. Her pieces are characterized by organic soundscapes born from the dialogue between body and material.
