On March 5, 2025, RAY released a 4-track EP titled "Seasons", themed around the four seasons. The EP features "I see the light" produced by Yusuke Hata (cruyff in the bedroom), "Upside Down" produced by Couple, "sunset hurts" by Mikire-chan, and "A Winter Letter, P.S.", showcasing a familiar lineup of creators for RAY. Unified by the shoegaze motif that defines RAY's signature style, this work also highlights a rich variety and broad range of expression.

Artist Profile

  • RAY

A female idol group that debuted on May 1, 2019. They are active under the concept of being an <The Most Cutting-Edge Alternative Idol in Japan>. They have received song contributions from overseas musicians such as Mark Gardener (RIDE), Parannoul, Ringo Deathstarr, and Daniel Knowles (Amusement Parks on Fire). Domestically, they have collaborated with established artists including Robin Aoki (downy, zezéco), Ichiro Yoshida, Yusuke Hata (cruyff in the bedroom), Azusa Suga (AprilBlue, ex. For Tracy Hyde), and MOSOME TONEBENDER. In recent years, they have also worked with rising talents at the forefront of the scene, such as Shotaro Shimizu (kurayamisaka), Sena Yamakita (hitohira), and Keiichi Kyo (Yukiguni), continuing to collaborate with creators rooted in the shoegaze and alternative genres. Their latest album <White>, released in October 2026, generated significant buzz, featuring a lead track provided by Mark Gardener (RIDE). In September 2026, they successfully held a one-man live show with a three-drummer lineup. They are also known for their versatile musical approach, including a dance- and mosh-focused <MOSH SET> composed entirely of remix tracks, as well as a full BAND SET. Their presence continues to expand beyond the idol scene into a wide range of fields.
