"Purple," Katherine's third single, is a fully self-produced track, with the singer-songwriter handling the lyrics, composition, and arrangement herself. Inspired by the overcast skies and damp winds of the rainy season, the song captures a sense of atmospheric uncertainty through sound.
Departing from the pop sensibilities of her previous releases, this track embraces stillness and space in its arrangement. Minimal beats, murky chord progressions, and a delicate, ephemeral vocal performance blend together to quietly seep into the listener's inner world.
Mixing and mastering were handled by Kokū, as with her previous works.
She began her career in the entertainment industry at the age of five, appearing on childrens English education programs such as Catchat. She also worked as a voice actress, playing Molly in the Japanese dubbed version of Toy Story 3. As a singer, she won the 2nd Animax U-12 Anisong Grand Prix and received numerous awards in classical vocal competitions. After studying classical vocal music at the Tokyo University of the Arts, she developed a solid foundation in singing and has since expanded her career across a wide range of genres, including pop and jazz. With extensive experience performing in bands and ensembles during her university years, she began her solo career in 2025, writing and composing her own music. In July, she released her third single, [purple], further broadening her musical expression.
