SENTIMENTAL JUNKY

In July 2023, the Japanese underground hiphop legend YAMAZIN divinely unpacks his highly-anticipated new album Sentimental Junky to the dearest world!

This full-length will be the first rap album in ages for YAMAZIN as he has devoted his soul in many different ways of creations and live performances as a core member of his other project Geromino, Middle and Reptilians in recent years.

Being in so close relationships with the crews over a decade, this is the first album released from HIGH LIFE RECORDS, the deep-rooted hiphop label in Okayama located western Japan.

Speaking of tracks, there are 18 tracks produced by 2 unique producers. One is DJ / track maker FLASH PISTON who has been producing lots of massive and dramatic dope beats from his hometown Kurashiki. He is so irreplaceable as the main pillar of HIGH LIFE RECORDS with his insanely high scratch skills even known as "the vinyl murderer". The other is the 2 piece band PRETTY SQUAD, minimally consisted of YAMAZIN's neighbor, SHOTA KANEYASU who plays the healing hardcore rhythm section, and YAMAZIN himself as a thick melodious bassist.

FLASH PISTON knocks us out with his overwhelming fat beats while PRETTY SQUAD lively plays heart striking beats with bass, drums, scratches, and sound effects as if it is a upper alternative for the mainstream hiphop tracks.


Through his tricky rhymes and soulful flows, YAMAZIN will take you to the spectacular journey. Sometimes to the outer space, sometimes to his spiritual inner world. Another time to the sun kissed southern island, to the isolated raves in the wild, or to the club he used to hang out.

Without any intro-skit-outro old school album structure, he breaks out from fatal microphone mass shooting with his dreadful rhymes. Another time he pumps funky bluesy flow along with his blood sweat and tears. He even sings up tenderly about true love like gentle waves. His unpredictable and full of humors but prophetic punchlines burns into the listeners minds and have both fast and slow acting effects.

On making this album, YAMAZIN featured renowned local rappers from all over Japan.
