This fifth single from Wink Music Service features guest vocals by Meari (You'll Melt More!) and is an EP to watch. It presents two exquisite tracks that reimagine the essence of 1960s pop for today.
The brand-new "Night In Soho" is a fairytale about a girl who dreams of stardom while yearning for Soho, the heart of London's street culture in the 1960s. Meari's poppy, charming vocals blend beautifully with Keitaro Takanami's gentle harmonies, resulting in sophisticated pop with a modern Burt Bacharach flair.
Coupled with it is "The Audrey Hepburn Complex" the 1985 debut single of Pizzicato Five, here re-recorded as a self-cover by its composer Keitaro Takanami. A Motown-inspired bouncing bassline and lush strings give the track a nostalgic yet refreshingly new feel. With a voice that combines an alluring ennui and sweetness reminiscent of Pizzicato Five's first vocalist Mamiko Sasaki, Meari breathes new life into this classic.
A Japanese music group founded when Sally Kubota, known for his work with The Phantom Gift and SOLEIL, invited Keitaro Takanami, a former member of Pizzicato Five, to "create supreme pop music." Each project features a guest female singer, with Sally Kubota handling total production from music to design. In 2023, they released the single "To Rome With Love" In 2024, they made their album debut with It Girls.
