Gota Nishidera (NONA REEVES) has completed his human covers album, Human, which tackles the deep city pop (pop songs/new music) of the '80s and '90s!
Famous songs that showered the streets between the Showa and Heisei eras on TV, radio, anime, snack bars, karaoke, and more.
This masterpiece covers album is filled with love and homage to Japanese pop music, finding its future in the pursuit of nostalgia!
This album features songs by Kyohei Tsutsumi and Reiko Yukawa, two of Nishidera's direct mentors, as well as Eiichi Ohtaki, whose approach to "pop music research and practice" he deeply respects.
After two tours of China with NONA REEVES and a solo performance in Taiwan, his successful experiences in Asia, Gota Nishidera reexamines Japanese pop music. This collection of eight ultimate tracks captures the richness of that allure, vacuum-packed into a single volume.
Japanese music, born in 1980 at the dawn of a new era, is brought to the present through the perspective of someone born in 1973 who grew up listening to it in real time. With sounds and vocals imbued with a deep love for the original, it redefines it in a modern and fresh way.
Produced by Gota Nishidera's longtime trusted collaborators Ken Tomita and Tomoya Yamagata, along with the young talent Yudai Ohi.
Track 5, "Woman: From the Tragedy of Two," features a duet with Megumi Mashiro, vocalist of Hicksville, a longtime collaborator on NONA REEVES's albums and live performances.
Mastering was handled by the Balearic/ambient genius Calm, resulting in a stunning soundscape.
The jacket design was by Keita Fukumi, producer of the YouTube channel "Gota Nishidera Channel NGC." The video captures Gota Nishidera getting his hair cut as usual at a barber shop in his hometown of Sangenjaya, vividly expressing his "human" sensibility in visual terms.
He debuted in 1997 as the singer and main songwriter of NONA REEVES. Since then, he has worked as a music producer, lyricist and composer for many artists and projects, including Shonentai, SMAP, V6, YUKI, Yasuyuki Okamura, A.B.C-Z and Airi Suzuki. Outside of the band, he is also active as a writer, MC and runs his own YouTube channel, Nishidera Gota Channel (NGC).
