"HEARTPART" is a song about sharing the weight of sorrow and everyday life with someone, rather than carrying everything alone.

As a singing Buddhist monk, Kishou Kato spends his days listening to people's struggles, doubts, and pain. From that experience came a simple thought: we may not be able to erase someone's suffering, but perhaps we can make it a little lighter by sharing its weight.

"Could you divide some of it for me?"
"Could you give me a part of what you carry?"

The narrator asks to share the overwhelming sadness and the unbearable weight of everyday life carried by someone he cares about.

Sorrow cannot simply be erased.
It cannot be made as though it never existed.

But perhaps, by sharing it little by little, its weight can become lighter.

At the same time, time never stops, and people eventually drift apart. Even the warmth of hands once held together will someday fade.

That is why the line "I wish we could live by sharing it" lies at the heart of the song.

The Japanese word "wakatsu" carries two contrasting meanings: to divide, and to separate.

There are things that keep people apart, yet sharing sorrow, joy, and the weight of life can also bring people closer.

"HEARTPART" lives in that space between separation and connection.

For this recording, yuzuna joins Kishou Kato on backing vocals. With both Japanese and Myanmar heritage, yuzuna brings a different voice and a different set of roots to the song.

Kishou Kato, a singing Buddhist monk living in Japan, and yuzuna, a singer with Japanese and Myanmar roots, bring their different voices together.

Two different voices become one song.

Perhaps that is another meaning of "HEARTPART":
we can be different, yet still share something.
