IKINYA-BUSHI
In our times, we're witnessing a world where what we take for granted is no longer the norm the next day, and where the common sense we believed in is being overturned.
"IKINYA-BUSHI" was born when marron sent me a single guitar phrase, inspiring me to create a song that would convey our ever-changing, humble daily lives to people 100 years from now--a song that would serve as a window into the past for future generations, much like a folk song.
Then, DJ Daichi masterfully arranged the groove of UCON on bass and PON2 on drums--members of "soft," the band that has been at the forefront of Kyoto's music scene and with whom hou and marron occasionally perform--giving birth to "IKINYA-BUSHI Based On Kyoto Remix" version.
"IKINYA-BUSHI" is a hymn dedicated to all living beings navigating these turbulent times together.
Let's live. Let's keep living.

Through numerous collaborations and co-creations with artists across genres, hou has brought her music far and wide--from cafes and outdoor festivals across Japan to local festivals, and at times even overseas. In 2023, hou released "IKINYA-BUSHI," an ode to her peers living in this era, on a 7-inch vinyl record, created with guitarist marron aka dubmarronics. She also performs under the name Houko HyugaNatsu, presenting arrangements of folk songs from her hometown of Miyazaki. She occasionally holds voice workshops in nature. Guided by the bonds of sound, she continues to explore the cosmos and sing of hope.
