• Kawai Yui

  A Japanese singer, dj , songwriter, and music producer from Tokyo, Japan. She began her musical career in 2023, drawing inspiration from New Wave, Shibuya-kei, and contemporary pop music. Her distinctive whisper-like vocal style has become a defining element of her sound. As a lyricist, she finds inspiration in the works of Japanese literary authors she deeply admires, particularly writers of fantasy and contemporary fiction such as Yoko Ogawa and Banana Yoshimoto. Their influence can be felt in the dreamlike imagery and literary sensibility that shape her songwriting. A passionate fashion enthusiast, she collaborates with a longtime friend who works as a designer to develop her visual direction and artistic image. She is also involved in the creation and customization of her stage costumes, occasionally hand-sewing alterations herself. She is currently an independent artist and has not yet signed with a record label.
