• CO2

  CO2 (pronounced C O 2) is a singer songwriter from Kyushu, Japan. She grew up in a family that loved music and naturally started writing lyrics and composing songs from an early age. In 2014 she began her career under the name CO2. Her songs focus on themes such as awareness and the irreplaceable moments that are often overlooked in daily life, aiming to gently reach the listener. Based in Kyushu, she also performs in cities such as Osaka and Tokyo, choosing the best style for each stage including acoustic, band, and piano duo. In 2022 she joined Rina Katahira in the Kansha Junrei Tour. In 2024 she composed the song Cheese for Kaela Kimura, which was used as the theme song for the movie What a Wonderful Life at Ninety. In addition to her solo works, CO2 expands her expression through commercial singing, songwriting for various projects, and exploring new ways to deliver music beyond genres. Her releases include the album CO2 in 2020, followed by the singles Minamo Band Ver in 2022, Wadachi in 2022, sea in 2023, and Phrase in 2025. She has also collaborated on Monohasu Aketata and Toumei Neo Akatsuki. Her other works include music for the Kyushu Tourism Promotion video WE LOOK Japan forward to seeing you soon, singing for the Nanairo Seimei insurance commercial Dont Give Up Good Insurance starring Kohei Matsushita, writing the original song Sa Sa Sanui no Hakataori for Sanui Textiles, composing Kaela Kimura Cheese for the film What a Wonderful Life at Ninety, singing the theme song O2 for the 9029works FUKUOKA 48 Hour Film Project 2024 Musume ga Kareshi wo Tsuretekita, composing for Calpis Health Direct commercials, singing in Miraikan Quantum Computer Disco, performing the song Chiisana Hana for yosukebo Iroomoi, and singing the theme song Daydream for the 9029works FUKUOKA 48 Hour Film Project 2025 Dual.
