Naoki Kanekura Composer / Arranger / Pianist Photographer / Videographer Born in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1984, and raised in Hadano. At the end of his first year in high school, he discovered rock music. Coming from a low-income family with no means to afford piano lessons, he taught himself how to play and compose. That same year, he decided to pursue a career as a composer. When a teacher told him that entering a music college was impossible without formal training, it ignited his determination; through relentless self-study, he earned admission to Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. At university, he studied foundational classical music theory and composition under Masataka Matsuo. He further expanded his repertoire under Toshiyuki Watanabe, mastering advanced composition, orchestration, and scoring for film, television, and theatrical productions. Having begun taking professional commissions while still an undergraduate, he actively works across a wide range of genres, composing and arranging musical theatre scores, dramatic soundtracks, commercial music, and pop songs.
