I based this song on the long-distance relationships I've gone through. The protagonist of the song warns their partner of the dangers they face when embarking on such a type of relationship. How they shouldn't let their strong feelings get in the way of something that might not be worth the while.

I was influenced by the production of Jack Antonoff and wondered how I would pull off his Bleachers-style slow ballad songs.

As someone whose roots are in hip-hop, this was a song I never thought to make and is definitely a risk to release.
