Two people falling asleep beneath a blue moon. Blossoms swirling through a black river. Someone sitting beside a spring, gazing at the sky. A radio playing alone in the middle of the night. Summer dust drifting above a distant cape. A disco ball at an outdoor party. A heart submerged in rain. A terminal bathed in sunset at 18:00. The album's clock moves from ten in the morning through evening, night, and midnight, yet every scene is illuminated by the light of something on the verge of disappearing.

Rooted in electronic pop, the sound moves across house, disco, Latin rhythms, new wave, and downtempo. While the lyrics look back, the beats keep carrying the present forward. The music never sinks completely into sorrow: bodies continue to dance, shirts move in the wind, and the river and disco ball keep reflecting the light. This coexistence of brightness and sadness is one of the album's defining qualities.

The "twilight" depicted here is more than a time of day.
