Another empty chair appears again

In the morning haze, my sighs turn white

A desk with fingerprints, a view I thought I knew

Loses its shape, blurring at the edges

Words without warmth slide down the walls

Everyone looking down with faces that have given up

Sweet-sounding ideals are handed out again

Chains called “for your sake” quietly tighten around my neck

With no way to fight back, I just count my breaths

Pieces of my heart fall away, unseen by anyone

The groan of rusted beams echoes inside my chest

My lips, cracking dry, whisper “I’m fine” as a lie

Am I still trying to believe in something?

I can’t remember the dream I had last night

A single glass of water, left cold in the kitchen

Their belongings still sit in the corner of the locker

Days pass like we’re being chased by something unseen

The whiteness of the survey paper blinds my eyes

The word “satisfied” feels so far away

Even pretending to feel nothing has become exhausting

The voice that mutters “It’s fine now” disappears unheard

Are now like faded photographs
