This song, huh?^^ Around 3 or 4 years ago, I was basically surviving on Twitter with nothing but manga and anime talk, and I connected with Sakurai Satoru from Spain (back then he went by Leon).

We made this Dragon Ball love x Drill rap off pure vibes and whatever momentum crumbs were left. Normally it would end with, this sounds like an anime track, but the low end is cold, scary, and makes your neck move. Not an otaku daydream, but real hip hop by accident.

Back then I was gonna make a Drill EP. Then a track that was supposed to be on it got released first without me (Shindansho (feat. Yamada Finesse)), and it broke my whole spirit. Even the title feels like it is diagnosing my heartbreak. So the EP died early, in the most internet way possible, and I left it for like 3 years.

And lately. This is the dumbest and most real part, but buying gear makes you optimistic. I upgraded from Ozone 9 to Ozone 12 for 30,000 yen (Nagoya Shimamura Music is stupid cheap), mastering became fun, I dug up old sessions, and this track popped out. My first reaction was, wow this is insane. Not nostalgic, not embarrassing. The kind that still makes sense if I drop it right now.

So I hit up my old partner right away.

kedy[Im gonna release that Dragon Ball track we made before^^]

Sakurai[The old lyrics are violent and disrespectful. Please do not release it. The world is already full of nihilism wrapped in drums and autotune. Music affects people. Drugs, crime, and words like bitch or hoe spread when repeated. I believe hip hop can exist without harming anyone. Im not denying you. I remember your bars had unity and peace. Mine were just vulgar. Ive grown from that era, but I still cant accept what I wrote then. So please, do not release it.]

Way too polite. It reads like a confession letter. Im talking about dropping a hard Drill track, and he starts a full personality inspection. And sure, his point is correct. But if correctness alone can stop music, then who can make hip hop, and when.

So I said it.

kedy[If you wanna erase the past and switch careers into a classy rapper, go ahead. But do not drag my past into your cleanup. If we are not dropping it, do not ever contact me again. Im never working with a fake again.] (inner voice: Beat is me, rap is me, mix is me, master is me, and you still wanna veto it? That is denying labor.)

In that moment it was not about good or evil. It was about not wanting to burn my own resume. Cleaning up your past is easy, but if you clean it too much, you become a different person. Im not saying staying messy is the answer either. But if the reason is to pretend my past never happened, then that is not the kind of music I make.

Sakurai[Alright. Lets drop it.]

Short. Clean. Somehow shorter than 3 years. Sometimes commitment is not about word count.

And that is how this track came back to life. It carries anime worldbuilding, but the beat is cold low end Drill. Japanese and Spanish trade punches, and the hook keeps firing Kamehameha. Goofy but strong, strong but memeable. The most complicated kind of heat on your timeline, and it still lands as real hip hop.
