Artist Profile

  • Mio Koseki

Mio Koseki is a singer songwriter based between Tokyo and Paris. Her music quietly connects different cultures and perspectives, resonating with a gentle strength. With roots in hip hop, she blends elements of J pop, French chanson, and poetic pop. Her delicate yet grounded voice carries lyrics that move freely between Japanese, French, and English, creating a sound that is uniquely her own. Inspired by daily life in Japan and her time spent in Paris, her songs explore the subtle tension between individuality and social norms. With honesty and compassion, she reflects on the pressures, contradictions, and quiet beauty found in modern life, especially from a woman's perspective. Her breakout track Before Monday unexpectedly gained attention among young listeners in France and remained at number one on the world official IndieTop Chart for eight consecutive months. She has since expanded her creative work, including a chart topping album in Switzerland, music for commercials and stage productions, and performances with Mari Natsuki Terroir, a contemporary dance company led by Mari Natsuki. In 2024, she was selected as one of five global awardees in the Chante en français competition hosted by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was featured on TV5MONDE. That same year, she successfully held a three night solo concert series in Paris, deepening her artistic connection with European audiences. In October 2025, she will begin her first European tour Premier Envol TOUR 2025. Through her voice, she continues to reach out to those who seek to be seen not for how they appear but for who they truly are.
