Rapper basō, from Osaka and signed to Franqinc., has released PaceMaker, a collaboration with Øic boyz (dobiy and Tabatty), a two-member producer duo from Mie Prefecture. As the song title suggests, basō likens music to a pacemaker-an essential element of his life-and expresses this sentiment through his unique style, set to the captivating track produced by Øic boyz. The artwork for the song, created by Taki from Kobe, features a background of cool colors with a bold, dynamic electrocardiogram design.
Basō, an artist affiliated with Franqinc., a creative team that produces music across genres with a foundation in boom-bap, is active primarily in the Kansai region, with his music characterized by a light-hearted flow and evocative, introspective lyrics. His music strongly reflects the inferiority complex he experienced in his youth, and while his lyrics are violent, they also possess a dual nature that sometimes evokes weakness. His Franqinc. roster also includes other distinctive artists, such as fellow Osaka-born rapper Hibari, Tokyo-based reo shimotani, who has participated in various video productions and produced music, and Okinawa-based rapper Kai-tone.
