Takumi Hasegawa is a singer-songwriter born in 1996 in Yokohama, Japan. After playing in bands and making films (including composing music for plays), he began releasing his home-recorded music on the Internet in 2021. His first publicly released song, [Faraway Beach], was praised by Jordan Rakei, a musician based in South London. The song [Steam Whistle] was released on various subscription services, and was selected for playlists such as [Pluto Selection (Biweekly)] and [JBSGROOVE] WEEKLY". It won the grand prize in the podcast program [radioDTM] in the [New Music Recommendation SP 2022 Summer] project. He arranged and mixed "snow snow" for the latest album [flow] by Fuyu ni Wakarete (trio of Saho Terao, Wataru Iga, and Reizaburo Adachi) released in May 2023, and played guitar and synthesizer on [Minamo no Tenshi]. In July 2023, the first EP [Tides] was released for distribution. This EP is a compilation of songs that have been released on SoundCloud since 2021, plus an unreleased song, [The Long Goodbye], and is a compilation of songs from the beginning of their activities. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely by the artist himself in his bedroom at home. Since November 2023, he began live performances, both as a band and as a duo with bassist Wataru Iga (also known for supporting artists such as Haruomi Hosono and Gen Hoshino). The sound was influenced by South London musicians such as Tom Misch and Arlo Parks, as well as indie bands and indie scenes such as Men I Trust and Los Retros.. The lyrics are characterized by a dry style and visual style influenced by modern and contemporary American literature such as Raymond Carver, Kurt Vonnegut, Raymond Chandler who is also quoted in the song title (The Long Goodbye), and Haruki Murakami who is well known for his translations of these works.
