The soundtrack album for the theatrical project "OOYAKE-NO-SONO" - written by actor and playwright Shozo Uesugi and produced and directed by actress Satomi Nagano - features its theme song and incidental music.
This album was created for the "Dreamers Stage", a performance in which six participants from Nagano's "Acting Workshop for Non-Professionals" divided into two groups to take on roles in "OOYAKE-NO-SONO". All tracks were composed by musician and music producer JP's PlayRoom, who performed every instrument and handled mixing and mastering.
The theme song, "The Old Me Is Dead", stands out with its lyrics drawn from the play's dialogue and a catchy melody that lingers in the listener's mind. The vocals were performed by aoi, a friend of two cast members, who joined as a special guest.
The album artwork is a collaborative creation by Shozo Uesugi, Satomi Nagano, and visual artist Konatsu Ishijima, who is also a cast member. Ishijima digitally collaged individual illustrations by each artist, reflecting their vision of "OOYAKE-NO-SONO".
Comments from the Creators:
Shozo Uesugi:
"I found myself humming this song first thing in the morning. It's incredibly catchy and fits 'OOYAKE-NO-SONO' perfectly. The theme song truly brings out the essence of the script, providing excellent support to the actors and enhancing their performances."
Satomi Nagano:
"This theme song has a girlish, laid-back charm with a touch of sophistication. JP's feminine sensibility really shines through. Honestly, when I first heard it, I wasn't sure if it would suit the chaos of 'OOYAKE-NO-SONO' as a production. But when paired with the actual play, it blended beautifully into the world we created. JP, you've crafted an extraordinary piece - thank you!"
aoi:
"While singing, I imagined the emotions of the characters as I read the script. Toward the end of the song, I infused it with a wish for the characters to live brightly and positively in their own way moving forward. I'm so grateful for this rare opportunity and can't wait to see the play featuring my two friends!"
