Mabumi Yamaguchi is a tenor saxophone maestro who has led the Japanese jazz scene for half a century. The second release on the Days of Delight label, following the previous work "Trinity" (2022), is a challenging work in which the soprano saxophone is played on all tunes, and all tunes are original. Mabumi Yamaguchi uses top players Mayuko Katakura (piano), Ryohei Komaki (b), and Tamaya Honda (drums) to develop his unique musical world. Born in Saga Prefecture in 1946. He made his debut in the Ryo Kawasaki band in 1970, and joined the George Otsuka Quintet in 1971.When he left that band in 1974, he began his activities in his quartet, and in 1976 released his first leader album,[After the Rain]. In the same year, he joined Hiromasa Suzuki [Korgen Band],and played an active part in the center of the Japanese jazz-fusion scene. In 1981, he released his 3rd album [MABUMI] with Tony Williams, Miroslav Vitous and Kenny Kirkland. He is highly evaluated for his excellent ability to express his own world view while confronting musicians at the top of the world. He continues to lead the Japanese jazz scene, including serving as a regular performer at the well-established jazz club Ochanomizu [NARU]. In 2022, he released [Trinity] by a cordless trio from [Days of Delight].
