Mom... Mom... Mom... Mom...
In Imphal during World War II, young soldiers who collapsed from gunfire or starvation called out for their mothers one after another, cried out, and then died. The number of those who died reached over 30,000.
Singer-songwriter Yaka of the author, her father was one of the few who miraculously survived the horrific war and finally returned home.
Yaka grew up hearing about her father's experiences in the Imphal Campaign from an early age.
Although her father is now an old man and lives in a senior citizen's home, the memories of his experiences in Imphal in his early twenties have remained with him in his old age.
After everything else had faded into oblivion, he returned to being a soldier in his 20s, standing at the entrance of the facility, sometimes holding his cane like a gun, sometimes saluting.
And in 2023, 78 years after the war ended, he ended his 102-year life.
The years of his twenties were all that Yaka's father had to offer. His daughter, Yaka, will carry on her father's life through songs for future generations.
