KODACHI presents a modern ensemble interpretation of "Ecchu Owara-bushi," a lyrical folk song from Yatsuo, Toyama.
The Kokyu-Japan's only traditional bowed instrument-performs a delicate, weeping melody, while the modern resonance of the piano elevates this traditional tune into a sophisticated piece of art. This arrangement captures the ethereal atmosphere of the "Kaze no Bon" festival, echoing the sound of the night wind and the quiet passion of the dancers.
Experience a unique soundscape where Japan's nostalgic heritage and contemporary sensibilities intersect.

Artist Profile

  • KODACHI

This is a unit featuring the "Kokyu", a traditional Japanese musical instrument. This was formed in April 2009 of Daisuke Kiba (Kokyu) and Tomonori Adachi (Piano & Programming). A fusion of the classical chic style passed on unbroken since the Edo period, the beautiful reverberations of the piano, and electronica timbre, and its refined urban sound, make you feel a sense of nostalgia and depicts scenes of one's childhood in Japan. With their performance on the NHKE TV program "NIPPON NO GEINO KACHOFUGETSUDO" (Japan Arts - Converse with Nature), providing the music to the Ebizo Ichikawa special video "KOTEN HE NO SASOI" (Invitation to the Classics), and being broadcast throughout the world in its rendition in NHK WORLD[Blends]etc., their activities are receiving attention throughout the world. Up to this point, they have released the CD albums "Japan"(2011)and "Corridors of Time" (2015).
