Based in Tokyo, The Soil Shop Record, the beatmaker project led by Kosuke Tsuchiya (Vo, Gt), has earned critical acclaim both in Japan and internationally, including appearances at French international film festivals and the BGP award. Now, that sound evolves into a new form as a full band. Renamed The Soil Record Shop, the project will release its long-awaited first album, Strange Dream, on February 26, 2026. While retaining its free-spirited, genre-crossing musicality spanning rock, electronic, jazz, and hip hop, the project shifts into a twin vocal lineup featuring Kosuke's younger sister, Kotomi (Vo, Key). Kosuke's grounded and expressive voice intertwines with Kotomi's clear and luminous tone, sometimes blending in unison and sometimes resonating like a conversation. Their deeply connected harmony casts a soft light over intricately constructed tracks, balancing experimental depth with genuine pop accessibility. Meticulous and genreless, yet remarkably approachable. The Soil Record Shop represents a new form of alternative pop, evolving from beats into a fully realized band.
