Friedrich Burgmüller (1806-1874), a German composer and pianist who spent most of his career in France, is best known for his collection 25 Etudes, Op. 100. These studies are widely used as teaching material to help young pianists and beginners develop fundamental piano techniques and expressiveness.
The collection is not just focused on technical mastery but also aims to cultivate musicality and rich expression. Each piece carries a poetic title, such as "Arabesque," "Innocence," and "Tarantella," encouraging the performer to imagine scenes and emotions while playing.
These studies have remained beloved by piano teachers and learners for generations, as they effectively enhance a student's sense of musicality, dynamics, and rhythm.
