"Blue-Black is not a term expressing a color concept.
It expresses the human weakness hidden deep within the psyche-self-preservation, deception,
and the tendency to perceive even things coated in lies as justice or truth if they remain as successful experiences,
making them impossible to correct later.
The inspiration for the piece itself comes from the paintings of Kaii Higashiyama.
I had often seen them in books, but the moment I viewed the actual paintings at the museum,
I was overwhelmed by their depth and color, and the broad framework of the poem and the main melody emerged.
Though the song itself came together instantly, the arrangement required a full year.
It took ten months just to settle on the cello solo intro,
and another two months for the string arrangement.
Vocal recording finally began in December.
