    m.s.t. is an instrumental unit consisting of Pianist "Shoko Mochiyama"and Bassist "Naoki Koyama",started activities in 2011.Their original compositions, based on small everyday events, are both lyrical and thrilling, and have won the audience's sympathy.The duo, who both studied classical music at music academies, also perform jazz standards and film music with their unique arrangements.They have released ten albums to date. Their piece "Karkinos" was selected as a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) 2015. Their album "Green and Wind" won the New Star Award at the Jazz Life DISC GRAND PRIX 2017 Jazz Album of the Year. Performed as a pre-act in the main stage of "Kawasaki Jazz 2017" at the main hall of Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall with a piano trio + string quartet. Performed at "La Folle Journée TOKYO 2018," a festival focusing on classical music. Performed a one-man LIVE with Akira Jimbo (Drums) and NAOTO (Violin) as special guests, and a joint LIVE with "CASIOPEA" and "STEREO CHAMP," each performance receiving favorable reviews. They performed at the first "Hibiya Music Festival" chaired by music producer and bassist "Seiji Kameda". Since 2020, they have been actively distributing LIVE and releasing their songs on AppleMusic and Spotify, where many of their songs have been selected for various playlists. In 2019, they started new project "Cinématographe" with singer-songwriter Migiwa Takezawa (ex.Goose house), and their first full album reached No.4 on the iTunes Alternative Chart. In 2023, they will release their first album in four years, "HOME," on Spice Up Records, the label run by violinist NAOTO. Featuring a stellar recording lineup, the album features pop and groovy songs based on classical jazz. Starting the same year, they will perform regularly as "m.s.t. x Senri Kawaguchi," featuring world-renowned drummer Senri Kawaguchi. In 2024, m.s.t. will release their first cover album, "Favorite Classics." It features 12 songs, ranging from Bach to Debussy, performed in a grand piano and double bass duo arrangement. In 2025, m.s.t. x Senri Kawaguchie album, "Journey," on Spice Up Records.
