Lyric

"Heart Sutra" channels the core teaching of the Buddhist Heart Sutra, that suffering is illusion and the world itself is empty, into a fast, raw grunge anthem. "Cut through doubt, break the chains" and "don't kneel to what you see, don't drown in what you hear" call for letting go of attachment, while a verse extends that same refusal to taste and scent. The bridge finds resolve: sharpen the mind, and enlightenment lies beyond. Rather than quoting the sutra's mantra directly, the song closes with an English echo of its sound and meaning, "Get away, get away, get far away, get all the way beyond, free, so be it," before settling into a quiet final line: fear is illusion, and that is enough. KNOX's Heart Sutra, reinterpreted as fast, cathartic 90s-style rock.
