• Ryoken MURAKAMI

  Singer-songwriter Born in Kyoto With a deep appreciation for a wide range of roots music, including R&B/soul, hip-hop, and reggae, he creates songs influenced by these genres, which he refers to as "Japanese soul music". His style features a powerful backbeat sound, a unique and polished vocal quality, and a lyrical world that encompasses everything from vibrant and visual lyrics to ironic and message-driven punchlines. He began playing guitar at the age of 18 and started his music career during his student days under the name Ryoken Murakami. While still in school, he self-produced his first album, "Yojohan Romance" After moving to Osaka for work, he released his second album, "DIECASTOWN" which he wrote during the COVID-19 pandemic. He later quit his job and adopted a lifestyle of living in his car, performing at live houses and bars across Japan to make a living. During his travels, he arrived in Niseko, Hokkaido, where he took on the role of a resident singer at the music bar (Music Bar MINA MINA) for the 2023/24 winter season. He performed almost every night at the bar, and with the tips and experiences gained during that winter, he produced and released his third album, "KANADEOTO" later that year. Currently, he is based in Hokkaido during the winter while singing all over the country in the spring, summer, and autumn.
