Storefront glass repeats my eyes

Bus stop bench holds fading gum

Old ad faces talk in tongues

Crosswalk beep in a nervous key

Taxi brakes hiss close to me

Every corner that I pass

Feels like someone else’s past

When I blink, it all stays burning

Little shadows in my sight

Like the world refuses turning

Till I learn to hold the light
