"Gaixia - The Fall of the Hegemon -" is a guitar instrumental portraying the final chapter of Xiang Yu, from the Battle of Gaixia to his last stand at the Wu River.
Surrounded by Han forces at Gaixia, Xiang Yu heard songs of his native Chu rising from all sides-an episode that gave birth to the expression "surrounded by Chu songs," a symbol of complete isolation and defeat. After parting with his beloved Yu Ji, he broke through the encirclement and continued to fight until his final moments at the Wu River.
Yet this was more than the fall of a single hero. With the end of Xiang Yu, the Hegemon-King of Western Chu, history was turning toward a new era under his rival Liu Bang and the Han dynasty.
The melancholy, restraint, and weathered soul of the blues meet the weight and intensity of metal, reflecting both the lonely man facing defeat and the proud warrior who remained larger than life until the end.
The end of one man, and the end of an era-two moments converging at Gaixia, a turning point in history.
