• Yumiko Tanimura

  Born in Kyoto, Yumiko TANIMURA began studying voice at fourteen. She also took introductory cello lessons with her high school orchestra club. She later graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts with the Faculty of Music Award and earned her master's degree in Vocal Studies at the top of her class. After two years at Biwako Hall as a member of Vocal Ensemble, she received scholarships from the Rotary International Foundation and the Rohm Music Foundation, enabling advanced studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), where she completed the prestigious Third Cycle in Vocal Studies. In 2006, she also obtained a diploma in early music performance from the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) de Paris. She gained international acclaim as the first Japanese winner of both the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition (Paris, 2003) and the Lyon International Chamber Music Competition (2006), along with other prizes. With a repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary works, TANIMURA has performed widely across Europe and Japan in Opera, Lieder, Oratorio, and Chamber Music. She frequently collaborated with Michel Corboz and the Ensemble Vocal et Instrumental de Lausanne, including tours in Japan and appearances at La Folle Journée festivals in Nantes and Tokyo. Her performances have also been broadcast on TV and radio. She has worked under the guidance of composers Henri Dutilleux and György Kurtag for her interpretations of their works. Her operatic debut was as Gretel in Humperdinck's «Hänsel und Gretel», followed by roles in operas by Purcell, Handel, Mozart, Rossini, and Britten. Under the baton of Jean-Claude Malgoire, she performed at the Opéra de Reims and the Opéra Royal of Versailles. At the Opéra de Tours, she appeared as Miss Rose («Lakmé»), the Forest Sprite («Rusalka»), Brigitta («lolanta»), and the Second Lady («The Magic Flute»). In Japan, she has appeared in Honegger's «Jeanne d'Arc au bücher» with the Osaka Century Orchestra (conducted by Ryusuke Numajiri), Poulenc's «Stabat Mater» with the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra (Michiyoshi Inoue), and performed Canteloube's «Chants d'Auvergne» and Dutilleux's «Correspondances» with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra (Junichi Hirokami) at Suntory Hall. She is a recipient of the Kyoto Aoyama Music Award, Kyoto City Art Newcomer Award, and Toudou Music Award. TANIMURA has taught at Kyoto City University of Arts, the CRR de Tours, and at the Centre Dramatique National de Tours. She currently lectures at Osaka College of Music, Mukogawa Women's University and Kyoto City University of Arts. She is also the director of Atelier Lyrique Kyoto.

• Jonas Vitaud

  A Paris-born pianist, Jonas Vitaud began playing piano at age 6 and organ at 11. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) under B. Engerer, J. Kezner, and Ch. Ivaldi, graduating with First Prizes in four disciplines: piano, chamber music, accompaniment, and harmony. He has won numerous international competitions as both a soloist and chamber musician, including the Lyon International Chamber Music Competition, ARD International Music Competition Munich, Trieste International Chamber Music Competition, and the International Beethoven Competition Vienna. Vitaud has performed extensively throughout Europe, Russia, Asia, and North America. He has been invited to prestigious festivals such as La Roque d'Anthéron, Lille Piano Festival, Festival International de Piano de La Roque d'Anthéron, Deauville Music Festival, La Folle Journée, Chopin Festival at Bagatelle (Paris), Richard Strauss Festival (Germany), Caserta Music Festival (Italy), iDans (Istanbul), Dubrovnik Summer Festival, French May (Hong Kong), and the Philips Collection (Washington, D.C.). He has also appeared with European orchestras like the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Munich Radio Orchestra, and Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, and frequently collaborates with vocal and contemporary music ensembles. He places a strong emphasis on his activities as a chamber musician, establishing significant trust with artists such as B. Chamayou and A. Larroume (piano), K. Dese (mezzo-soprano), Yumiko Tanimura (soprano), A. La Marca (viola), V. Julien-Laferrière (cello), and the Zaïde Quartet. Vitaud is also deeply committed to contemporary music, having premiered works by H. Dutilleux, T. Escaich, G. Kurtág, and Ph. Hersen. He has particularly championed the works of Ch. Rauh, notably giving the world premiere of his Triple Concerto with the Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra. These collaborations with composers have profoundly influenced Jonas Vitaud and are a major source of his artistic inspiration. He has released three solo CDs: "Brahms" (Orchid Classics), "Dutilleux, Liszt" (Nomad), and "Tchaikovsky: The Seasons" (Mirare), all of which have received widespread critical acclaim from publications such as BBC Music Magazine, CHOC CLASSICA, and 5 Diapasons. In addition to his active performing career, Jonas Vitaud has been a piano faculty member at his alma mater, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, since 2013. He is also a Japanophile whose hobby is visiting gourmet restaurants.
