A heartfelt ballad sung by Synthesizer V Mai, told from a man's perspective.
Before leaving for a long voyage at sea, he pours out his love and fear of never returning--delivered through a female voice, giving it the unique character of an 'Ore-ko' (a girl singing in a male voice) song.
The wrinkles of the bedsheets resemble the waves of the ocean he is about to face.
Haunted by the thought that he may never come back, he leaves a farewell note--yet still holds a faint hope that if he returns, he will marry the one he loves.
Composed and written by Shogo Sakai at the age of 24, a composer with over 38 years of experience in video game music, this song finally comes to life after many years.
Born on September 23, 1960, in Kanagawa, Japan. He began playing guitar in junior high school but soon shifted his focus from performance to writing music. Starting his career at the dawn of the video game era, he joined Data East in 1987 and later HAL Laboratory in 1996. In 2023, after 36 years as a company employee, he became an independent composer, pursuing creative work beyond the realm of game music.
