Artist Profile

  • AKIHITO 0424

Born on April 24, 1974, he graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan Nagayama High School. Until his second year of junior high school, he aspired to be a manga artist; however, a turning point arrived during a music class in his third year. During a singing test, he performed "Aura Lea" and scored 96 out of 100 points. He later analyzed that the deduction was because he "held the final fermata for too long." Although the teacher pointed out, "Okay, cut [the note]!", this experience awakened his joy for singing. Having always enjoyed listening to music, he was influenced by the band boom of the era and decided to become a vocalist. Towards the end of junior high, he covered songs like "GET THE GLORY" by LAUGHIN' NOSE and "The House of Wax" (Rouningyou no Yakata) by SEIKIMA-II in the music room, but he felt these styles did not suit his natural voice. In high school, he formed and performed in cover bands, playing music by BOØWY, X (later X JAPAN), Led Zeppelin, and LOUDNESS. However, his singing skills were still developing, and he received harsh critiques from those around him. Realizing that "to become a musician, one needs original songs," he began teaching himself composition at the age of 16. He held a firm belief that rock music should be self-taught. To learn composition and programming, he used the Yamaha QY10, a portable music workstation. Through this device, he mastered the basics of sequencers and MIDI, honing the technical skills that would define his music production.
