Artist Profile
Momiji & The Bluestones
Momiji and The Bluestones is a Japan based band rooted in the blues. The band was formed in 2019 from a blues session scene. At the core of the band are vocalist and harmonica player Momiji Okubo and guitarist Tomoyasu Takeuchi ex SUPER BUTTER DOG. His background is strongly shaped by funk and groove oriented music. By combining their musical histories the band creates a sound that moves freely from traditional blues to New Orleans influenced funk boogie blues funk and mellow soul forming a deep and organic groove. In 2021 the band released a blues cover album TIME MACHINE. In 2025 their first full length original album Flowin was released. In January 2026 the band releases their latest album STAIN. This work further expands their blues foundation while pushing forward a contemporary sense of groove and expression. Joined by saxophonist Sara Maeda known for her work with Atsushi Kimura band along with Tomohiko Okanda and Yoshihisa Shirane Momiji and The Bluestones continue to play blues as a living and evolving music.
