The One

Rooted in both Japanese and Western pop, R&B, and soul music, Roka is a singer-songwriter from Kanagawa who self-produces everything from lyrics and composition to arrangement. Selected for J-WAVE SONAR TRAX and performing as the Opening Act on the main stage of the music event RIOT in April, he continues to make remarkable strides. Roka has just released his 4th single "The One."

For the first time, Roka focused on recording with live instruments, crafting a track that marks a new chapter in his sound. The recording features an ensemble of top-tier musicians leading today's Japanese music scene: Ren Yamamoto (from LAGHEADS / Bass), Shunsuke Uehara (Drums), Kyohei Ariga (Guitar), Kosei Nagata (Saxophone), Akihiro Nagata (Trumpet) and Co-3oly (Keys / Co-Produce) . Their artistry enriches the track with a bold yet radiant soundscape, over which Roka's words and vocals flow with a rhythm and groove that reimagine the possibilities of Japanese lyrics.
