Artist Profile

  • Minoru Nagashima

Born August 25, 1977. Raised in Akaren village on Kikaijima Island. Year of the Snake, Virgo, Blood type A. Gender identity is X-gender. Influenced by her grandfather, who would sing using his ribs as a guitar when drunk, she developed a love for singing from a young age. She joined the choir club in elementary school and has since been involved in a wide range of music, including brass band, band activities, island songs, and a cappella. She began composing original songs in high school and, after moving to Tokyo, started her own music career, taking vocal training while working part-time. 24 years ago, she returned to her hometown and has been based there, conducting and instructing local choirs and participating in local bands. She received an Encouragement Award at the 3rd Amami Song Contest. She performs original songs with island themes at the Kikaijima Summer Festival. 2008 She won the Grand Prize at the 4th Amami Kayō Championship with her original song "Eclipse." She released her first original album, "On the Island of Joy," through a local record company. Her songs are still played on Amami FM today, and her catchy phrases remain popular with locals.
